How we got here

2020

Founded in Lagos

Uwana Energy was incorporated with a focus on off-grid solar solutions for underserved communities in rural Nigeria, supported by early grant funding from global climate partners.

2021

Shift to urban, gridded market

Following customer data, we pivoted to serve urban homeowners and businesses suffering from frequent grid outages — the market with the deepest unmet need.

2023

Uwana Connect platform launched

We launched the first version of the recommendation and financing engine — replacing manual quotes with instant, data-backed plans tailored to Nigerian usage patterns.

2025

1,000 home milestone

Uwana crossed 1,000 completed solar installations across Nigeria, with coverage in 36 states and partnerships with 3 verified financing providers offering instalment plans from 4% monthly interest.

2026

Platform 2.0

We are rebuilding the Uwana Connect platform from the ground up — guided by customer research and behavioural data — to make solar purchasing as clear, fast, and trustworthy as it should be.
